Blogging all these weddings, and shooting them!, has me so inspired right now. I thought I’d share that inspiration with you in a quick post. Whether you’re planning a wedding coming up, dreaming of a wedding one day down the road, or shooting a wedding it’s so important to focus on the details of the day. Yes, it’s important to get a good caterer, fed guests are happy guests; and of course you want to make sure you have some type of music so you can party all night long. But in my opinion, it’s the little things that draw the whole day together. Whether it be hot pink shoes peeking out from under your lovely dress, or name cards handwritten on pieces of driftwood for your beach theme, there’s so many little things you can do to carry a theme, or your colors, through the whole wedding.
Not to mention, as a photographer, I can’t help but love when everything is cohesive. When I sit down to write these blog posts, or put together an album for my client, those little details are great “cushion” photos for a post. They tie everything together and really create a stunning display for what the feel of your wedding was. Take for example this photo I found on Pinterest:
So it’s a yellow and gray theme, or grey as they say, but it doesn’t just end with the bridesmaids dresses and the bouquets as some are wont to do. No, this color scheme is carried right through to the very last detail. Imagine a wedding put together like this. Yellow bowties? How clever. Striped straws, cute and functional! Not to mention the delicious yellow wrapped chocolate bars I can assume would be party favors. Then you step back and look at all these photos together, don’t they just…”go” so nicely? Imagine walking into a reception hall and being greeted by this attention to detail. I absolutely love it. I think it would take my breath away.
So, for your viewing pleasure and maybe to give you a boost on planning your *fingers crossed* details wedding, I collected a few images on Pinterest that might be of use to you. Think about the little things you can include in your day and wonder if maybe you could pass it off with part of your theme. A lot of the ideas you’ll find will probably be pretty cheap, and usually are also pretty diy. Flowers, tea lights, just think of things you can get in multiples and run with it. You never know what you’ll find! or mix it up and go thrifting for candle stick holders to use in your centerpieces, for example. They might not all look exactly the same, but they’re antique candle stick holders and that is enough of a similarity to carry a theme. Have fun with! Go crazy with it or keep it simple! Just remember to think of the little things, and I promise, it’ll be worth it at the end of the day.
Keep being inspired,
Kay
